Aerial Photography: Combining my loves for flying and making photos!

For the past few years I’ve been learning to fly airplanes. Simultaneously over same past several years there has been a revolution in powerful cameras mounted miniature remote controlled helicoptors (DRONES or DOVES) specifically in the area of aerial photography and videography.  This Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology has become cheap, user-friendly and safe.

Here’s a farm on Galiano Island called Cable Bay Farms. They are one of my first aerial photography clients. I’m working on an ongoing project photographing their property from the air through the changing seasons!  

How lucky am to be alive and flying at the most perfect time in the history of the humanity for my passions for flying and photography to to intersect. Not only can I now fly cheaply and daily but I can make professional quality aerial photos and videos from DJI Phantom 3 and control the whole setup from my iPad! 🙂

Drones are a definitely a trending topic. They are so new and combine so many cutting edge technologies that people react very strongly when the topic of these flying computers come up. Many people are intrigued and inspired by them and are drawn to the operator like curious little kids. Lots of those people ARE curious little kids. Others find them disturbing. They worry about their privacy and their safety and that makes a lot of sense.
